Artist Statement

My artwork over the years has been one of exploration, discovery and an emotional quest to paint the ideal landscape. Not necessarily a specific place but rather the colorful almost abstract ideal that allows the viewer to lose himslf in the painting. To this purpose, I discovered alcohol ink painting on Yupo paper; this slick toothless paper is perfect for the flow of intensely pigmented medium to run with abandon across the paper, thinned with plain alcohol and adding other inks to create abstract landscapes. Drying quickly I can return and add texture, remove paint, stamp trees or other organic forms to create a semblance of a landscape.
