I have been primarily a watermedia artist for many years, I recently discovered alcohol inks. This medium is a fast drying intensely concentrated pigmented liquid that works well on Yupo paper (man-made and non-absorbable) using pouring and tilting techniques to create abstracted landscapes. Additional techniques with brushes, plain alcohol and stamps are used to create textures that add another dimension to the painting. My newfound technique has increased my creativity as I start out without any idea of what the finished painting will look like, but I work on the painting until I am happy with the end result. The finished painting is sealed with both Kamar varnish and UV sealer and framed under glass.
I have been a Watermedia artist for over 20 years and am active in the Napa Valley Art Association and participated in Open Studios several years. I have received numerous awards over the years from the Art Association, the Napa County Fair (2nd place, 2016) and Napa Valley Expo (2nd place, 2016), as well as the several other awards from the San Diego Watercolor Society, and the San Diego County Fair prior to 2001.
Primarily self-taught I have taken numerous workshops and classes taken from well-known artists such as Dale Laitinen. Robbie Laird, Mel Stabin, Stephen Quiller, Nita Engle and Tony Couch and others.
I hope you enjoy my paintings.
